Solving a Trig Equation Using Identity Substitution

From the Math 30-1 Information Bulletin 2023-2024:

Taken from the Alberta Education website:

“Students are able to solve second-degree trigonometric equations in a variety of domains but many students have difficulty solving equations when an identity substitution is required”.

This video lesson provides key insights on the use of identity substitution to solve trig equations, especially second degree equations. Typically, the goal is to state the equation in terms of only 1 trigonometric function. Emphasis will be on substituting Pythagorean and Double Angle Identities.
