I think that this course was super beneficial for me to achieve success in math this year. I found some of the concepts quite difficult and i think that the Mr.Quinn’s videos broke down each concept in a way i could understand. I also think that the practice tests were a very useful tool to use before an exam. With these practice tests i had the ability to go over my answers and really understand what i was doing wrong if i got the answer wrong. The answer keys for each practice exam broke down each question into steps so you can not only see if you got the answer right or wrong but also where you made your mistakes in finding the answer. I think that this is an excellent resource for any student struggling in math and would highly recommend it to anyone who has the option.

Math is definitely not my strong suit so I decided it was best to reach out and get some help. I met with Phil twice a week and decided that we were going to try to work ahead of the class. I truly believe that working ahead was extremely beneficial to my understanding in math 30-1. Working ahead made it easier to understand what was being taught in class because I was able to see the material we were learning before hand, and while being a student that needs time to process information, it was very helpful to have a resource that allowed me to succeed. The first time I met with Phil I had told him that my goal for the class was just to pass, but he made sure to help me with whatever I needed and reminded me to stay confident when going into tests. Phil not only helped me pass the class, but helped me pass with honours which I would have never been able to do on my own.

Hi Mister Quinn…you taught my son, Justice, a few years ago and were such a huge help in my son’s success as he prepared to graduate. it is so refreshing to find a gem of a teacher who deeply cares to inspire his students in learning. i am so happy to see that you continue to raise up the next generation to be confident in their application of math skills. what a blessing you are, especially to those for whom math is not a forte.

I am a grade 12 online student, and when I started my math course I was really struggling. When I talked to Mr. Quinn for the first time, I still hadn’t completed any tests or handed anything in as I had no idea what I was doing. I initially went to him for tutoring assistance, but he shared with me a website where he had videos posted of him teaching each lesson. As well as that, he told me that he would still be available for meetings when I may need any extra assistance. That was a few months ago his videos have done wonders for me! I have been breezing through my math course as well as getting the grades I would hope to achieve, and I just can’t recommend using his resources enough.

Overall the ‘Get A Leg Up’ program was very helpful in the sense that it allowed me to actually get a leg up and get ahead in my class. The program allowed me to take time to look over, practice, and watch some of the video lessons provided for the current concepts being taught to further my understanding of the concept when it was taught in class. I found that hearing the concept a second time cultivated my understanding of what I was being taught which was reflected throughout the tests and exams I took. The layout of the program is very well organized and is easy to follow and since Math 30-1 is a very fast-paced course and having this extra leg up really benefitted me.

The online Canvas courses helped me progress, understand and re-learn what I missed in class or didn’t pay attention to. They made me more comfortable in being able to take my time and watch and learn in my home environment and helped build up my confidence for class each day. The teaching covered all the little questions that I may have had, but didn’t ask in class, and made it understandable. Mr Quinn has a great sense of humour and makes learning fun and enjoyable compared to time in class. The videos are structured to keep students’ attention and help them understand more easily than in a classroom situation. Mr. Quinn is a dedicated and passionate teacher, and with his online courses, my confidence, understanding and grades greatly improved.

I purchased Mr. Quinn’s Math 30-1 course for my son to use as a supplement to his online class thinking that the extra help might be necessary to his success. However, the video lessons and practice questions complete with detailed solutions were invaluable, and he ended up using it for all his learning. He would view the videos and do the practice problems with Mr. Quinn’s course and then complete the assignments and exams for the school. He understood the concepts far better than if he’d had to use the school’s online materials alone, and was able to write the diploma exam with complete confidence. As a homeschool mom, finding curricula that aligns with the Alberta Program of Studies in order to receive high school credit can be a challenge, and I will certainly use this resource again for my younger children.
